Before you sign a quote

Two quotes. Same house. One heats four rooms, the other heats nine.

Ducted quotes look almost identical on paper. The difference is usually hidden in the zoning. A system can be sold as "smart ducted" while only a handful of zones are actually wired up — which means the rooms left off the plan are back to sharing one thermostat with everybody else.

The cut-down quote

4 zones

  • Bedrooms grouped together on one zone
  • Rear of the house tied to the living area
  • Cheaper to install, cheaper to quote
  • You keep living with hot and cold ends

Designed properly

Zoned to your floor plan

  • Zones set by how rooms are actually used
  • Individual temperature per zone
  • Sized to layout, roof space and airflow
  • Every room comfortable, not just the front

The one question worth asking any installer: how many zones does this quote include, and which rooms share one? We'll walk your home and answer it in writing, free.

The problem

Is one end of your home always too hot or too cold?

Most ducted systems run off a single thermostat. Once the rooms around it hit the set temperature, the system switches off — even though the bedrooms down the back are still freezing in winter and stifling in summer.

So the family turns the temperature up, the front of the house gets uncomfortable, the running costs climb, and nobody is actually happy. The fault isn't the weather. It's the design.

What it costs you

Heating is the biggest line on a Victorian power bill. So why heat the rooms nobody is in?

Sustainability Victoria notes that heating is the largest component of a typical household's annual energy bill. An unzoned ducted system conditions the whole house every time one room needs it — empty bedrooms, the study, the guest room, all winter long. Proper zoning means you only pay to heat and cool the rooms you're actually using.

Each zone holds its own set temperature — unused rooms stay off instead of being heated or cooled for nothing.

The technology behind it

AirTouch 5

AirTouch 5 is the smart control system we use to deliver that room-by-room comfort. From the wall panel or your phone you can set each zone, schedule the house around your week and see what the system is doing.

We design the full zoning plan your home actually needs, rather than fitting a premium controller to a cut-down number of zones.

Gas heating replacement

Ready to replace your old ducted gas heater?

If your ducted gas heating is 15 to 30 years old, it's working harder than it should to keep the house comfortable — and it only does half the job.

A modern reverse-cycle ducted system replaces it with heating and cooling from the one unit, plus the smart zoning that lets each room sit at its own temperature.

Eligible Victorian upgrade incentives may be available when replacing qualifying gas heating systems — we'll let you know where you stand.

Old ducted gas vs. modern reverse-cycle

Heating
Both heats and cools from one system
One thermostat for the whole house
Individual temperature per zone
Ageing components, rising service costs
New system, correctly sized for the home
Runs to empty rooms
Unused zones stay switched off

Our process

We inspect first. Then we design.

No two houses move air the same way. We walk the property before recommending anything, then design the system around what we find — sizing, zoning and airflow to suit your home, not a standard package.

Why HVAC Climate Solutions

A better-designed system, not a cheaper one.

01

Design-led, not off-the-shelf

Every system is sized and zoned for your home — never a generic package dropped into the roof.

02

Smart zoning specialists

Room-by-room control is the standard we design to, not an upsell tacked on at the end.

03

Honest recommendations

If your system doesn't need replacing, we'll tell you. We only install what suits the property.

04

Built for the long term

Correct sizing, correct airflow and quality workmanship — comfort that still performs in ten years.

An honest answer

What does a bargain ducted system leave out?

You'll see ducted systems advertised at a fixed price before anyone has seen your home. That number is only possible because the system is decided before the house is. The savings usually come out of the same places:

  • Fewer zones, so rooms get grouped together
  • Undersized capacity that struggles on the hottest and coldest days
  • Standard duct runs and outlets instead of a layout designed for your ceiling space
  • No load calculation for your orientation, glazing or insulation

We quote after we've walked the house, and we tell you plainly if your existing system is worth keeping. If we're not the right fit, we'll say so — and it still costs you nothing. Eligible Victorian upgrade incentives may also be available when replacing a qualifying gas heating system, and we'll check that for you.
